BURNS- Do you know how to recognize burns?

First Degree Burns:

  • superficial lesions of the skin;
  • Reddening and swelling of the skin;
  • Presence of pain and burning / soreness;
  • Spontaneous recovery with scaling of the skin and without scarring;
  • Time of recovery 5-7 days;

Second Degree Burns:

  • Superficial and deep lesions of the skin;
  • Presence of blisters (fittene) with whitish and/or bright red spots;
  • Intense pain;
  • Spontaneous recovery of the superficial lesion, whereas the deeper lesion requires surgery;
  • Superficial lesion disappears easily without scarring;
  • Time of recovery is of 10-15 days for the superficial lesion, whereas the deeper lesion takes 16-25 days;

Third Degree Burns:

  • Deep lesion of the tissues ( skin-muscles-tendons-bones );
  • Brown, blackish, marble-white coloration of the skin; to the touch the skin has a very thick texture – pigskin-like;
  • Absence of pain due to the death of the nerve cells;
  • Time of recovery is not spontaneous and surgery is necessary;
  • Serious scarring.
