WHAT TO DO:
- Never under-estimate a burn. Immediately consult a doctor if there is a delay in recovery; if there is reason to worry of an infection; or if it concerns small children, the elderly or sick people;
- Should the situation be particularly grave, first of all, call FIRST AID ( call 118 ) and calmly explain to the operator all the details of the situation that could be of help at the moment of the call;
- Remove all clothing taking care not to afflict the injured area;
- Remove all jewellery –rings, bracelets, necklaces, etc... ;
- Apply compresses of cold water (15° C water temperature) every 15 minutes;
- Cover the burned area with well-cleaned wet cotton linen and wet without compressing;
- Have the subject laid down and covered, lest he/she suffer a drop in body temperature.
WHAT NOT TO DO:
- Do not remove any stuck-on clothing;
- Do not use any creams, ointments or disinfectants on the burned are;
- Do not use any oils, tomatoes, tooth paste or any other homemade remedy on the burned are;
- Do not pierce the blisters;
- Do not compress the burned area;
- Do not allow the injured person to drink any type of liquid.
